Barks.
In this series of canvases entitled « Barks », I wanted to pay tribute to trees, guardians of visible time. Their barks enriched with substance sometimes dark, sometimes light keep the trace of their path of life.
Furrows were carved by wounds, spots of colours are like memories of light days.
A bark is the mysterious enveloppe which protects the generous and fertile sap.
Leaves, under a light breeze, drag us to a pleasant and soothing dance.
Barks.
Variations.
Variations.
In this series of canvases entitled « variations », I felt the need to put the infinite lightness and frailty of Nature to music.
Working the substance which can sometimes be « vegetable, silk, metal, butterfly wings, dragonfly, drops… » invites us to be disoriented in a choreography of abundance of life.
Metamorphosis.
In this series entitled « metamorphosis », I wanted to explore the powerful creator of living things, power, always renewed but fragile. The intensity of colours, of magmatic hatching pass on living things energy.
Metamorphosis.
Instant.
Instant.
In this series of canvases, I imagined crimping the fragment in order to concentrate the intensity of life like a hatching.
The order of an art collector.
This huge 10-metre-square triptych painting (4 metres X 2,5 metres) was created for a collector, it is located in a room with a 6-metre « cathedral » ceiling, I wanted to suggest and accompany the space with its branches or climbing plants that go up to the sky and through the work of barks, suggest a path leading to dreams.
My former canvases from 1990 to 2000.
Soaked from landscapes of light from my childhood, between the sea and the sky, the swamp and the earth, I work to produce a figurative painting. In this way, I want to give back the energy, rhythm and colours.
I refine the lines in order to leave the essential only, the feeling felt from the power of a tree, the intensity of the light, the space of the horizon, the perfume of the earth.
The life of people living at the seaside, very near, leads me to capture the energy and power of their work.
Travels along the saharian desert, where human frailty is so tangible, inspired me for a period that I baptized « Horizon ».
I then tried to convey the mystery of the union between humans and the power of the desert.
People ( women, men and children) are only present in the light of the frailty, moving sketches caught by elsewhere.
The anchor « brown-black » in a triangular shape often present in the canvases is a path for the characters, it initiates the movement, it is a source of contrast and highlights colours, source of energy and warmth. Therefore light of the sun is vivid and warm.
And, if scenes of daily lives of women and men, in coloured markets, represent the links they weave in an instant, in a shared otherness, the starting moment is never far.
And so I let myself be dragged by these travellers to the horizon line letting myself hoovered by the space.
Naturally, as if guided by these figures on these invisible paths, my pictorial research, led me to explore the infinity of natural spaces and the soul of travellers trying to have them resonate.
The characters often become prints and links in a breathing that unites the power of the universe to human frailty.
